God at center and circumference

I was reading the intro to Genesis in my Message version of the Bible. In there was this sentence "God at center and circumference; God first and last; God, God, God."

This made me start to think. How often do we try to put God on the spot. "Here God, this is where I want you to be." I don't think we understand how big God is. Just because we didn't get the big lotto numbers right last week, we don't think God can handle the big requests.

I can hear some of you now saying, "I know this!". I ask you to prove you really know how big God is. I ask you to prove you know God is at the center and the circumference.

What is the biggest thing you have asked God for this year? Was it something BIG? Was it something I could have done or was it something only God could accomplish?

In the last week or so I was talking to Mike Harrison. He was talking about the new church he is pastor at, True Community Christan Church. All of the stuff the church owns could fit in my garage. The church meets at the old Ferrysburg school gym. One of the big items the church still needs is chairs. Mike was asking people to pray for God to provide enough chairs for all the people who will come on Christmas Eve. As soon as he said this Mike stopped. Then he rephrased and said, "Pray that God would provide a building with chairs."

This is what I mean when I say, We don't think God is big enough. True Community's basic need is chairs, but the real need is a place to worship God with the basic comforts.

God is at the center and circumference of your problems, your neighborhood, your family, and your life. Remember that when you pray this week and remember God is big enough.
