Shiny

OK, I really mean to post more often, but I have a shiny problem. I am distracted by shiny objects. I think it is a man thing. Our wives think we can't do things right. This is just not true. We men can create great plans. Men have created plans that would end hunger, poverty, cancer and the common cold. These plans are in existence somewhere. The problem is shiny objects. We just can't resist shiny objects. No matter how hard I am concentrating on a subject I can't help running after a shiny object.

I think this is why women wear jewelry. Any time I start a great plan that involves the removal of small things, like a wall or two, all my wife has to do a wave her hand with the diamond on it. I loose what I was talking about and she can direct the conversation in to a safe direction. The same thing causes trouble with my prayer and study time. I really mean to get up each morning before the sun and study a chapter of the bible. I really mean to set aside a couple of hours to pray each afternoon. There are just too many shiny objects in the house.

This morning I got up and I WAS going to have my study time. As I was getting out of bed I went to brush my teeth. The sun was coming through the window and sparkling on the mirror. Now why am I in the bathroom? Teeth. I am here to brush my teeth and then I am hungry. Do you see how easy that was?

I think I should build a little room to study in. It should be painted black with no windows. It should have a single beanbag chair. This would make sure I am not distracted before my study time is over. Each morning I can get up and study the bible. How great each day will be when I start by reading my bible!

I need a bean bag chair and ... Hey is that a shiny thing over there?
