1 Peter 3:1-4

The same goes for you wives: Be good wives to your husbands, responsive to their needs. There are husbands who, indifferent as they are to any words about God, will be captivated by your life of holy beauty. What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—but your inner disposition. 1 Peter 3:1-4 MES

Have you seen that commercial, I think it is for on on line dating service? Where the couple are sitting at dinner and the lady says "First impression, Would you marry me?".
I know this is meant to be funny, but I can't help think about how common this really is. Every day people are making decisions on their first impression. I do it all the time. I do believe a first impression has value, but I think it gets too much importance.

In this verse Peter is talking about marriage. Marriage is the second most important decision you will make in your life. These principles can be applied in all of our relationships. If we live on the surface all that will be important is hair styling, jewelry and clothes. If we want to have a great marriage and great relationships, we must look deeper. I always am reminding myself not to live on the surface. I lived on the surface to a long time. My life and relationships are much better doing it God's way.
