Proverbs 28

A grasping person stirs up trouble, but trust in God brings a sense of well-being.
Proverbs 27:25 The Message

I read this verse a couple of times. I was trying to understand how "grasping" could stir up trouble. It helped to go back and read the header for this part of the chapter. "Doing Great Harm in Seemingly Harmless Ways." So how can a grasping person stir up trouble with out meaning to? The second half of this verse gives a clue. It talks about trusting in God.

If I trust money, if I put money at the center of my life, could I stir up trouble? What about pleasure? If a person put the pursuit of pleasure as the most important thing in their life, could their actions cause trouble? I have known many people like this. Generally they don't understand why things don't go well for them. They just don't get it. They don't know the answer. As my friend Mike Waugh says the answer is "Jeeeeesus". When you put Jesus at the center of your life, you get a sense of well-being.

Where do you put your trust?

David, you wrote: As my friend Mike Waugh says the answer is "Jeeeeesus". When you put Jesus at the center of your life, you get a sense of well-being.

After 3 1/2 years of school I only have one thing to add - sometimes, coffee can also give you a sense of well-being.

Jesus first, coffee second - always!
