Proverbs 16

There's a way that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell. Proverbs 16:25 Message

This is something our culture doesn't communicate well. Most of the time the wrong choice doesn't look like a wrong choice. You meet Joe and he is out of work and needs money to buy food for his family. At first glance, here is a brother in Christ who needs our help. This is a good thing we are to help those in need. Joe is addicted to alcohol. We are not helping Joe.

Julie comes to you and wants to help your family. At first glance, here is a sister in Christ who is willing to help you in your time of need. As the days go on Julie calls more often. She starts getting mad when you spend time with other people. The more you get your life in order the more upset Julie gets. Julie really didn't want to help you she wanted to keep you where you were to make herself feel better.

I have watched too many Hollywood movies. I always expect the villain to wear a black hat and a big black mustache. It just doesn't work that way in life. Wisdom is the only way to tell the difference between the people who will help you or hold you back.
